Getting Started with macOS Device Management
macOS is a series of graphical operating systems developed for Apple’s Mac family of computers. It is the second most widely used desktop OS, after Microsoft Windows. Hexnode UEM supports a wide range of features for Mac devices. Get to know more on how to get started with Mac right here.
Enroll Mac
Before you start enrolling your Mac, make sure the APNs (Apple Push Notification services) certificate has been configured. If not, follow the link below to learn more about the same.
One of the most preferred methods of enrolling macOS devices is using Device Enrollment Program (DEP). Learn more about enrolling Mac devices by tapping on the link below.
Configure Restrictions
Set up suitable restrictions on your device and prevent the restricted features from functioning on the device. Hexnode UEM brings in a set of restrictions, which when enabled, prevents the restricted features on the device. Go through the link below to learn more about the basic restrictions and their applications on the device.
Manage Apps
Choose the apps you wish to push on the device and manage the apps efficiently. Web Content Filtering
You can block or allow the use of specific websites on your device with the web content filtering feature. This feature provides access to only those websites that have been allowlisted, blocking all others.
Bypass Activation Lock
Activation Lock feature helps you keep the devices secure if it is misplaced, lost, or stolen. To prevent the intruders from reactivating the device without the device’s Apple ID and password, you can enable the Activation Lock. It also increases the chance of recovering a lost device. However, if required, you can bypass the activation lock on a macOS device remotely from the Hexnode UEM console. Please note the activation lock can be cleared only on devices already enrolled in Hexnode. Get to know more about bypassing activation lock by following the link below.
macOS Encryption
Protect the data on your Mac and prevent unauthorized users from retrieving the information stored on your Mac with the FileVault policy of Hexnode UEM. Learn more about setting up FileVault on your Mac by tapping on the link below.
Personalization
Login window settings of Mac devices can be configured according to the users’ needs. You can set up references for user login, control a user’s ability to shut down, restart the device, and specify the information to be displayed on your device’s login window. Set up dock preferences to change the size of the dock, reposition or hide the dock, animate while opening applications and more, on Mac with Hexnode UEM.
Setup Assistant runs when a user logs in to the Mac for the first time and is designed to guide the users through initial setup procedures such as configuring Apple ID and iCloud setup, enabling Siri and so on.
